Preferring know-how in all its diversity, its roughness. This is the perspective of a return to the sources of beauty and goodness that the next Vivre Côté Sud show in Aix-en-Provence promises, between tradition and Mediterranean authenticity.
ESDAC STUDENTS PRESENT THEIR CREATIONS
The first year students of BTS Design of Fashion and Home Environment present a whole series of accessories, clothing and decorative objects around the theme “Raw”. The textile material, the fiber are at the heart of their creative approach, proposing a whole work of ennoblement of the material. Two former students join the exhibition: Mathilde Lordet presents her collection of scarves with pop influences and Lola Saglietto a collection of brooches and hand embroidered bags. A selection of creations from the Product Design section also adorn the stand.
RAW-STATE BY AURÉLIE DES ROBERT
Back to the beginning, to the genesis, to the essential. There, where only nature has made its mark, where the tree stretches its branches towards a pure sky; where the sea offers its transparent clarity, where the earth is intact, unaltered. Like a blank page where life is moving again. One would then take the path of a simpler life, truer. We would be inspired by the past, the collective and constructive memory, we would avoid ecological catastrophes, we would preserve our essential nature, we would be interested in… the raw state of things. The hand of man would accompany the meaning of this first, primary aesthetic.
A look at a modernist architecture sheltered by a patio with Moorish and Mediterranean accents by LPasse Design. We discover behind large wooden screens with openwork patterns, made to measure by Rock the Kasbah, the interior of a house that would be revealed by the play of shadows and lights of a shade in natural fiber of coconut , designed and manufactured by Scourtinerie. The building would alternate smooth painted surfaces, raw and worked materials, plant fibers … Materials opening new horizons like the natural bark fiber of Adele Matuba Collections imagined by Lucien Tourtoulou but also the materials of Marius Aurenti, pionner concrete waxed, with lime in worked paste and vegetable painting. There, would invite an art of living and think where authenticity and truth have their place. This place is here. Welcome to the Maison Côté Sud, in a simple and raw state …
SUSPENSION IN THE MEDITERRANEAN BY ALINEA
Head in the air, feet in the water, alinea suspends and surprises the time of a moment. Suspension in the Mediterranean is a mischievous swing, which plays with natural laws to better explore the field of possibilities, with freshness and lightness. SCULPTEUR D’ARBRES PAR MARC NUCERA

Son of a passionate cabinetmaker, Marc Nucera inherited his love of wood. He sculpts the trees by favoring the essence of matter, the primary state of form. His tool: the chainsaw.

TALKS: DESIGN, ARCHITECTURE, TRENDS… CONFERENCES THAT SHOWCASE EXCHANGES
The success of these informal conferences, where big names such as the architect Jean-Philippe Nuel, the designer Christian Ghion, or the fashion man Serge Bensimon came to give their testimony on their south and the way they had discussed in their projects, the show offers this year new meetings that will take place at the foot of the steps. AWORKSHOPS PARFUMS DE LA BASTIDE
For the 21st edition of the exhibition dedicated to know-how and raw materials, Parfums de la Bastide will animate several olfactory workshops around the natural essences that are at the base of their creations, all conceived and manufactured in Provence.
Workshops where visitors will be able to discover in their raw state the most beautiful emblematic materials of Provence and to elaborate by themselves a test of natural perfume, supervised by a laboratory technician
Free workshop, animated by their laboratory technician.
Several workshops a day: at least 11H / 14H / 16H / 18H.
Duration of 15 minutes.
Limited to 4 adults per workshop.
Each participant leaves with his perfume test in a 10ml lab bottle.

GOURMET CULINARY DEMONSTRATIONS
Once again this year, the Salon Vivre Côté Sud showcases the flavors and culinary talents of the South through its exhibitors but also a program of tantalizing culinary demonstrations managed by Anne Garabedian, editor-in-chief of the magazine « Le Cœur des Chefs » , on the theme “Raw-state”.
“The cook’s job begins when he chooses his favourite product and strives to bring it to light. During the culinary demonstrations of Vivre Côté Sud 2019, the chefs will choose their emblematic product, the one that makes them want to cook and they will fade behind him. They come from all over Provence, but the gastronomic news of the city of Aix-en-Provence deserves to be especially celebrated.
The chefs cook in the wine estates: Matthieu Dupuis-Baumal opens in the spring the restaurant of the Château de la Gaude north of Aix-en-Provence and Ludovic Aillaud has just taken the reins of the bistro at Château Grand Boise in Trets.
Ronan Kernen (Côté Cour) opens La Petite Ferme just next to the Cézanne cinema, Pierre Reboul gives a second life to the Château de la Pioline, Olivia and Mickaël Féval offer two additional addresses in the city center and Nicolas Bottero welcomes Saint -Cannat gourmets arriving from the north. And since the Alpilles land also friends, Michel Hulin de Baumanière and Eric Sapet of the Little House of Cucuron. We will of course find our “essential historical figures” as Nadia Sammut and Ernest Hung Do (La Fenière in Lourmarin) and our Italian heart, Anna Bini: without Anna and the Sammut family, the show would not be as greedy as it is today.
Finally, the “Sunday night dream brigade” has become a rendez-vous of conviviality not to be missed. Often impromptu and spontaneous, this collective demo is made up of leaders who have a “little” sense of sharing. It shows and it’s heard!

Actors Michèle Laroque, Kad Merad, Dounia Coessens, the architect Rudy Ricciotti, Michelin-starred chef Alexandre Mazzia, the singer Imane, the freedivers Julie Gautier and Guillaume Néry, and the Olympic snowboard champion Pierre Vaultier … They are from the south and they do not forget it! It was out of friendship for their region and its President Renaud Muselier that they all agreed to lend their image and their voice to the brand film “Ici c’est le Sud”. A film that symbolizes the renaissance of the territory, Provence, the Alps and the Côte d’Azur. Inspiration for some, memories of childhood or playground for others, all were able to evoke their love for the region and the treasures it contains. Awarded the TOP / COM GRANDS PRIX Corporate Business 2019, the film has generated more than 3 million impressions on Facebook and Instagram, 700,000 views on YouTube.
